Should have turned left at Albuquerque …

by weaselfeet on Feb.25, 2009, under Games

OK, I had a few differences of opinion with a mate, lets call him Swifty, about Fallout 3. Now this guy probably has more games general knowledge than anyone I have met. He can hold his own in a discussion about pretty much any gaming system, genre or franchise. He's played them all and actually thinks about the experience whilst doing so. So I was pretty taken aback by the pasting he was giving Fallout 3. It turns out we were actually playing different games ... Continue reading

2am

by weaselfeet on Oct.24, 2008, under Games

That's the time ... 2am. WTH am I doing here at 2am? I've had a couple of days off work being sick that left me feeling pretty tired. I stayed up fairly late a couple of nights playing WAR (heh .. that's a sweet game), leaving me feeling pretty tired. My Mum and Dad arrived to today to visit for the weekend so I stayed up to hang with the Ol' Man when I really wanted to crash. I only went to bed 3 hours ago, so why am I here? Continue reading

Don’t be timid in the translation

by weaselfeet on Sep.25, 2008, under Games

Warhammer Online appears to have done a really nice job of bringing the Warhammer lore to a much wider audience. Whether or not those that are new to the lore, as I am, take it on board is of course up to them, but I am gorging myself on its' gritty goodness and enjoying every morsel. Continue reading

Do the licence justice

by weaselfeet on Sep.16, 2008, under Games

By now most gamers would have encountered the 'leaked' WH40k Space Marine gameplay, if not you can find it at gametrailers. I was rather under-whelmed by what is shown but what really got to me was the marketing spiel that accompanied the vid. Continue reading

Warhammer Online: the Age of Reckoning went live for the Collector's Edition pre-orders last night and opens up for me tomorrow. From what the family and I have seen, it's shaping up to be a fairly solid launch. I didn't get into the closed beta but did get access to the the two preview weekends and the open beta. AoC and the Mythical Maintenance Release

by admin on Aug.26, 2008, under Games

I have been in software development for the vast majority of my working life and I really enjoy the industry. I like the technology, the pace, the toys and I especially like the people as I have been lucky enough to encounter great people wherever I have gone. Granted I have probably been naive enough to focus on the better aspects of the not so great people and abrasive enough to largely avoid the arsehats, but in the main the people are great. Freedom To Move

by weaselfeet on Aug.06, 2008, under Games

For me, gaming is primarily about exploration. A talented team spend years of their lives building a colourful, complex world and in order to pay homage to their efforts I set out, pith helmet in-hand, to see every square inch of it. Continue reading

Where is my MMO?

by weaselfeet on Jul.29, 2008, under Games

Armed with tight-fisted disdain for those who paid an ongoing cost to play a game they already owned, I resisted the MMO trend for a long time, a really long time. But like many before me, I stood a little too close to the event horizon that is WoW and one day I awoke in Azeroth, the fall into madness had begun. Continue reading
